SYNOPSIS:

Bekaura is the story of Juruara, a 14-year-old Emberá Indigenous girl. Based on true events, the story portrays the forced transition from childhood to adulthood following her father's abuse. Along the way, Juruara encounters the female spirits of her ancestors who guide her toward healing. The story ends with Juruara as an adult in a cornfield, where she comes to terms with her history and embraces her inner child.
